Area converter

Translate an area between explicitly squared units.

Example: 1

Output

YOUR RESULT—

Up to 12 significant digits. Decimal results may be approximate.

Work through the task

Express one area in another supported unit while keeping its meaning explicit.

  1. Choose square metres to square centimetres, or the precise pair required for your task.
  2. Enter a decimal quantity and run the conversion. Area factors are squared. A length factor cannot be applied once to an area.
  3. Review the result before copying or downloading. Editing an input invalidates the previous result; keep an original if the transformation matters.

Example to check

1 square metre becomes 10,000 square centimetres

Limits and output behavior

Use finite values within the bounds shown by the controls. This calculator uses floating-point arithmetic and rounded display values; an exported decimal is not a promise of exact accounting precision. Area factors are squared. A length factor cannot be applied once to an area.

Troubleshooting

Check both selected units and use a finite decimal value within the stated bounds. Correct a missing/invalid field before rerunning; a displayed rounded value does not add precision to the input.

Questions

Why is the square-unit factor different from a length factor?

Both dimensions change, so length factors are squared. One square metre equals 10,000 square centimetres.
