Data-size converter

Distinguish bits, bytes and decimal or binary storage units.

Example: 1

Output

YOUR RESULT—

Up to 12 significant digits. Decimal results may be approximate.

Work through the task

Express one data quantity in another supported unit while keeping its meaning explicit.

  1. Choose KiB to bytes, or the precise pair required for your task.
  2. Enter a decimal quantity and run the conversion. Case and prefixes matter: a bit differs from a byte, and decimal prefixes differ from binary prefixes. Select both units explicitly.
  3. Review the result before copying or downloading. Editing an input invalidates the previous result; keep an original if the transformation matters.

Example to check

1 KiB becomes 1,024 bytes

Limits and output behavior

Use finite values within the bounds shown by the controls. This calculator uses floating-point arithmetic and rounded display values; an exported decimal is not a promise of exact accounting precision. Case and prefixes matter: a bit differs from a byte, and decimal prefixes differ from binary prefixes. Select both units explicitly.

Troubleshooting

Check both selected units and use a finite decimal value within the stated bounds. Correct a missing/invalid field before rerunning; a displayed rounded value does not add precision to the input.

Questions

Is this the exact fraction storage converter?

No. This general unit panel uses its stated floating-point arithmetic. Choose the separate exact storage converter when exact decimal/binary fraction output is required.

Input and privacy

Processing runs in this browser. Inputs are not saved automatically. An explicitly chosen local draft, where offered, is plaintext storage on this device. Downloaded files, clipboard contents and browser extensions have separate retention behavior.
