Work through the task
Start an exact MB to KB storage conversion.
- Check the preselected units before entering a nonnegative amount.
- The initial decimal units use powers of 1,000. Other offered units can change the factor; keep the selected output unit with the result.
- Review the result before copying or downloading. Editing an input invalidates the previous result; keep an original if the transformation matters.
Example to check
1 MB → 1000 KB.
Limits and output behavior
Exact fraction arithmetic for supported decimal/binary bit and byte units. Maximum 1,024 input characters and an absolute decimal exponent of 1,000. Negative amounts, grouped numbers such as 1,000 and unsupported syntax are rejected. Outputs can be long; no automatic source replacement is performed.
Troubleshooting
Use an ungrouped nonnegative decimal/scientific amount. Check decimal versus binary prefixes and bit/byte case; negative values, unsupported syntax and extreme exponents are rejected.
Questions
Why are KB and KiB different?
Decimal KB uses 1,000 bytes; binary KiB uses 1,024 bytes. This exact converter retains the selected unit definition as a rational value.
