Resting metabolic rate estimator

Estimate adult resting energy from the stated equation inputs and limits.

Input

Use digits 0–9 and a dot for decimal input. Output uses this page’s number formatting.

Inputs start empty. Load example fills them only when you choose it. Reset clears current inputs and results.

Output

Work through the task

Inspect the arithmetic of the stated adult resting-energy equation.

  1. Select the equation coefficient and enter age, height and weight using the labelled units and permitted ranges.
  2. Read the equation estimate as an estimate. Changing the coefficient changes the calculation; this page does not choose a personal health target.
  3. Review the result before copying or downloading. Editing an input invalidates the previous result; keep an original if the transformation matters.

Example to check

Hypothetical input: 70 kg, 175 cm, age 30, Male coefficient (+5). The arithmetic 10×70 + 6.25×175 − 5×30 + 5 gives 1,648.75 kcal/day estimated resting energy. This is not a daily intake target.

Limits and output behavior

Use finite values within the bounds shown by the controls. This calculator uses floating-point arithmetic and rounded display values; an exported decimal is not a promise of exact accounting precision. The supported equation and adult input ranges are shown in the form. It does not model an individual’s medical circumstances.

Troubleshooting

Complete all four fields, including the equation coefficient. Check the stated adult age, height and weight bounds rather than entering a missing value as zero.

Questions

Is the displayed estimate a daily intake target?

No. It is the arithmetic result of the selected resting-energy equation for the supplied bounded inputs. It does not set a personal intake or treatment target.
