Descriptive statistics calculator

Inspect descriptive statistics for a bounded list of finite numbers.

Input

Comma mode accepts one value per cell and rejects empty cells. Neither mode accepts thousands separators.

Sample standard deviation requires at least two values.

Use finite decimal or scientific notation, such as 1.5, -2 or 3e4. Maximum 10,000 numbers and 100,000 characters.

Output

Ready. Nothing is saved automatically.

Work through the task

Calculate descriptive statistics for a bounded list of finite numbers.

  1. Choose whitespace or comma separators and population or sample deviation.
  2. Enter numbers using a decimal point or supported scientific notation. Sample deviation needs at least two values.
  3. Review the result before copying or downloading. Editing an input invalidates the previous result; keep an original if the transformation matters.

Example to check

Whitespace-separated 1 2 3 4 5 → count 5 and mean 3.

Limits and output behavior

Maximum 100,000 source characters and 10,000 numbers. Empty comma cells and nonfinite numbers are rejected. Engine loading has a separate finite startup budget; computation stays bounded after the engine is ready.

Troubleshooting

Choose whitespace/comma separation and correct the indicated invalid token or empty cell. Sample deviation needs at least two values. If the local processor cannot start, retain the input and retry/reload.

Questions

Why can a decimal summary be approximate?

Inputs are parsed as IEEE 754 binary64 values. Sum accumulates those parsed values exactly then rounds once; mean/deviation and displayed decimal results remain approximate.

Input and privacy

Processing runs in this browser. Inputs are not saved automatically. An explicitly chosen local draft, where offered, is plaintext storage on this device. Downloaded files, clipboard contents and browser extensions have separate retention behavior.
